Check out these great new government documents from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration! Whether you’re interested in coral reefs, the Gulf of Mexico, or educational & employment opportunities through the NOAA, we’re sure you’ll enjoy browsing this section of the library. Below are a few of the latest additions to our NOAA collection.

Don’t take our word for it. See for yourself.

Demographic Baseline Report of U.S. Territories and Counties Adjacent to Coral Reef Habitats

A work published by the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) that details the health of coral reefs on the coast of U.S. owned territory. It focuses its attention on the dangers that are presented to these coral habitats from things such as pollution and tourism to climate change and tropical storms. The book then moves into discussions on each U.S. owned territory that has coral reefs in danger: Guam, Northern Marianas, American Samoa, Hawaii, Florida, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. All of these areas are filled with information, charts, and pictures as well.

Report on the Educational Partnership Program: 2001-2007

This work provides information to students about the NOAA and what it has to offer. Much important information is found on scholarships and how to obtain on the prestigious grants that are offered to individuals that are interested in pursuing a career with the NOAA. Many programs are offered in different fields, such as Ocean/Marine studies of course to others like Education, Physical Science, and Life Science. This book will be valuable to anyone who is interested in learning more about the NOAA and what employment opportunities it can offer.

The Gulf of Mexico at a Glance

This book, published by the NOAA, discusses the Gulf of Mexico and the danger it is under as well as the benefits that it offers. Many pictures help give the reader a feel for the Gulf area as well. The book begins by detailing some of the problems that surround the Gulf, such as population growth, commercial fishing, and tourism. Though these are all later mentioned as part of the Gulf economy, this only helps to create the situation there more of a dilemma. This book is useful for anyone who needs information on the Gulf of Mexico area as well as anyone who needs information on possible environmental issues.

Feel free to check out any of the three books above, or any of our vast resources available as part of the state and federal depository program by searching for them in our online catalog at https://gil.georgiasouthern.edu/ . These government documents are located on the first floor of the library, and circulate like regular books. Ask for assistance at the Learning Commons desk if needed.

Brought to you by your friendly Government Documents Librarian, Lori Lester, with special assistance from guest writer and Student Assistant Chris Booth.

Robert S. Cameron has created a very thorough work on this topic; tanks and their emergence in the U.S. Army. Cameron has included practically anything one would want to know about armor units for the United States in WWI and WWII, with chapters ranging from their transportation to battle as well as more specific topics. The author has also included many pictures, charts, and maps that will help the reader comprehend this subject much more easily.
